Frequently Asked Questions

What is envoyy?

envoyy connects qualified and verified service providers with the individuals and families who need them. We do this through an accessible and safe online platform, which can be accessed through your computer, tablet or phone. Use envoyy to find or offer help for respite support, elder care, personal support, home care, and so much more.

We know the right fit is important. envoyy’s filters and matching algorithms lead to better search results, helping you connect with the perfect service provider to meet your needs and care requirements.

Once a connection is made, envoyy simplifies the hiring of care and removes paperwork with visual scheduling tools, built-in instant messaging, and secure online payments.

All envoyy users are vetted and verified with a strict background check process, to ensure everyone in the envoyy community is protected.

Why is envoyy needed?

We have heard from many Manitobans that struggle to connect with the right care provider for their families. Some of you spend a lot of time and money searching for the right person, while others are going without important services like respite or home care.

“We held two forums…and listened to the needs of families and individuals in our community who are struggling to access qualified, trusted, and available help” said Lindsey Cooke, Director of Provincial Services at Manitoba Possible, the group behind envoyy.

“envoyy is here to help mitigate those issues of safety and security, to bring about change in our community,” Lindsey added.

envoyy helps people seeking care find trusted service providers in our community, one relationship at a time.

Will there be a cost or fee to use envoyy?

Registration Fee
There is no cost to registering either a client or service provider account with envoyy.

Administration Fee
Due to the current COVID-19 situation, the admin fees are being waived for the first three months of envoyy operations. They are being generously covered by Manitoba Possible. There will be a minimal admin fee to use the service in the future. We are currently working on the fee structure with multiple stakeholders and will let users know once that has been determined.

Payment Processing Fee
Clients are currently being charged a credit card processing fee for each payment to service providers for hours worked, which amounts to 2.9% of the transaction. An additional $0.30 per transaction is being charged as a Stripe credit card processing fee.

Service providers are not charged any payment processing fees to use envoyy.

How will you ensure that envoyy users are vetted and verified?

Each envoyy user (service provider and client) will be required to go through the following steps before their account is activated:

  • Verify their email address
  • Provide a copy of a government-issued photo ID, with the info to be matched to their profile details
  • Be interviewed by the envoyy customer service team

Additionally, service providers can provide proof of three valid security checks, which will be noted under their profiles. These include the:

  • Child Abuse Registry Check,
  • Criminal Record Check, and
  • Vulnerable Sector Check.

Is envoyy only intended for short casual shifts or also long-term continuing care arrangements?

Both! When posting a job, envoyy clients have the option to choose whether the job will be a one-time opportunity (ex. 2-hour shift to transport the client to an appointment), or a continuing arrangement (ex. fixed hours every weeknight as a companion).

Service providers will be able to filter for what type of arrangement they are looking for when they search the list of available jobs.

The system will match clients and service providers looking for a similar working relationship.

As a client, how do I post a job?

There are two ways for clients to hire a service provider through envoyy, once logged in:

  1. On the landing page you will see search results for all available service providers. You can click on a profile to review a user’s qualifications. While looking at the profile details, you can hit the Contact button to message the service provider directly. Do this if you’d like to ask for further details about their experience, abilities, availability, and suitability. After commencing a chat, if you determine that the service provider will be a good fit for you, you can click the Hire button within the chat window, to offer a one-time shift or continuing position directly to that service provider.
  2. Alternately, you can choose to post a job, which all service providers can then see and have the ability to apply for. Hit the Post a Job button at the top of your screen when you’re logged in. Fill out the pertinent job details, and just like that, your job is posted. You’ll then be able to see who applies for your posted job in the My Jobs tab, by selecting it from the drop down menu at the top of your screen. You can review each job applicant, with the option to accept or decline their application.

As a service provider, how do I apply for jobs?

As jobs get posted by envoyy clients, you will see them appear in your dashboard when logged in. If you qualify and are interested in applying for certain posted jobs, you can click on the job to view more details and click the Apply button, which then sends your details to the client, for review, hire, or refusal. If they hire you, you will receive notice, and the job details will be added to the Calendar feature in your account.

Alternately, clients may reach out to you individually through envoyy’s messaging chat, to let you know of their needs and determine if you’re matched. If so, they can directly offer you a job, which you have the option to accept or refuse.

How does envoyy’s payment process work?

When clients post a job, they will be required to enter their billing details. All major credit cards are accepted. In the job post they will indicate whether pay will be provided on a biweekly or monthly basis, i.e. 2 weeks or one month after the job’s start date.

When service providers accept a job through envoyy, they will be prompted to enter their banking information, to allow for direct deposits into their account.

For one-time jobs, payments are processed within 2 weeks of the job’s completion, transferring funds between the client and service provider.

For continuing jobs, service providers will be paid through the platform on a biweekly or monthly basis, depending on the client’s selection when creating the job.

As a service provider, will my income be taxed by envoyy?

envoyy service providers are contractors. As such, neither the client nor envoyy deducts taxes from their income on behalf of CRA.

A service provider’s full earnings are transferred to them and it is their personal responsibility to report all income when filing their taxes the following year.

A statement of earnings will be provided to service providers who have completed work through the envoyy platform at the end of each calendar year.

I receive funding under Manitoba's Self-Managed Care program. How will envoyy handle this?

As part of our initial launch, you will use envoyy to transfer payments between yourself and the service provider for all completed jobs. You will still need to claim your respite reimbursement exactly as you currently do.

The goal is to continue adding features to the envoyy platform, so that in due time all of the paperwork for claims and reimbursements can eventually take place through envoyy.

What happens if I need to cancel a job?

Clients: If you have posted a job and need to cancel it, please contact support@envoyy.ca at your earliest opportunity to let us know. We will remove the job listing and ensure no payment transactions are pending.

If a service provider has already accepted the job prior to cancellation, please also send a message to the service provider to let them know of the cancellation.

If a service provider is a no-show to a scheduled job, you should contact envoyy at support@envoyy.ca, so that we can cancel any pending payments. At that point, envoyy will follow up with the service provider to determine appropriate action, like a negative review or suspended account.

Service Providers: If you are no longer able to work a job you have accepted, please contact support@envoyy.ca at your earliest opportunity to let us know, so that we can ensure no payment transactions are pending. You should then message the client to let them know of the cancellation.

How do I report an envoyy user for misuse of the platform?

If you need to report a client or service provider for unacceptable use of the envoyy platform, or serious behaviour breaches, please immediately contact envoyy’s support services with your concerns at support@envoyy.ca. We will look into the matter.

How will envoyy ensure my information is protected?

All collected data is housed in a world-class secure server facility, featuring multiple layers of encryption and virtual and physical protections in place, all of which is monitored to keep the data safe. In addition, your connection is secure and encrypted using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer).

Your documents and transactions are also stored and encrypted with a unique key. As an additional safeguard, each key is encrypted with a regularly rotated master key.
